Mental Map

I thought it would be quite hard to choose 10  strongest influences in my life, but it just came naturally. At the end I would add more than 10.

1. Coloring Books.
When I was a child I spent a lot of time with my older cousin. We had a big coloring book. But for me it was boring just to color the images. So I redrew the images and than color them.

2. Vivienne Westwood.
Later in my childhood and during my adolescent time I wanted to become a fashion designer. I was designing clothes for my dolls all the time, especially Barbie. That was the reason, why I was playing so long with my dolls. My school mates were talking about boys and I was thinking about fashion design. Vivienne Westwood was one of my favorite fashion designers.  I like her unconventional style and personality.

3. Piet Mondrian.
I saw his retrospective exhibition in Vienna and I was blown away. His process inspired me and I could recognize his talent. It was the sane with Dali and Picasso. I was more impressed after I saw there early work as a students and than there masterpieces.

4. The Art of looking sideways by Alan Fletcher.
While I was studying graphic design, I found a book The Art of looking sideways by Alan Fletcher. I felt in love with those images. It helped me to look wider on graphic design and on visual expression in general. He told so much with just the basic elements and it can be so strong.

5. The man with the beautiful eyes by Jonathan Hodgson
A poem written by Charles Bukowski and animated by Jonathan Hodgson. I decided to make an animation for my final work at Academy of fine arts. I had nor prior experiences, so I started to explore animations. And I came to amazing works. This one was my favorite. The combination of drawing, painting and typography is incredible. And it works on so much levels.

The documentary about migration of the birds. The music is so beautiful and the birds are so graceful. It made me think about the laws of the nature and the power of instinct and not interfering into other beings lives.

10. Diwara Tempels.
On my journey to India I visited Diwala Temples on Mt. Abu in Rajasthan. They are jain temples. The complex of temples are carved with such delicacy, the details are amazing. The artist were paid by the weight of dust they created. So you can imagine how fine the work is. I went there for couple of days in a row and jut sat there and observed the details. I felt blessed.
